A little finish from a new book

Actually, it's an old book, but it's new to me.  It came from the Mad Sampler Company who sells gently used stitching books.  This is the first design I have stitched from it.
It is full of motifs from old Dutch samplers, but instead of just being on the pages in no particular way, they are arranged in what amounts to page after page of small samplers.  Which are just the size I like to do often.

Here's a couple pages of the inside of the book.  Thanks for letting me share a new and exciting {to me} addition to my stash!

New Bag

I spent the afternoon making a bag out of the Chessie & Me sampler.  I think it turned out kind of nice.
Here' s the back view with a large pocket.

A close up of the front of the bag.  These three pictures were taken with our new camera, I hope they are a little clearer than the pictures from the old camera.

New Finish

This is Summer Sampler by Chessie & Me, done with Valdani threads on Cashel flax linen.  It was a fun, quick stitch and I really enjoyed it.  Now I'm off to Joann's to get some fabric so I can make it into a bag.

Rainbow in the Sky

Last night just before sunset it was raining and then hubby noticed that the sun was still out, too, so we ran out to see if there was a rainbow and there was--a giant one!  And if you look closely you can see another faint one off to the right of the larger one.  I was glad to be able to get a picture of it.

New Stash!

I got my Stash of the Month package yesterday from Tradional Stitches.  If you are in the club, you get one every month for $25--{Canadian}, which right now is about the same as US dollars.  This time the package included: a 12"x13" piece of  32 count linen called "Ocean Kiss", a skein of Stitches and Spice Sampler Thread--color Splash, a Mill Hill bead kit for a little Christmas tree, a little set of miniature bell pull hardware and a tiny sample of pink gingham linen.  Every month I wait anxiously for my stash package and it feels almost like I'm getting a present!

My Selvage Pincushion

This is the pincushion that I use in my sewing room.  It's made out of selvages.  I just loved this idea when I saw it on the Selvage Blog.  There are all kinds of things there made out of selvages.  I'm not clever enough to put in a link here, but you can find it in my list of blogs.

This is the side view.  I trimmed it with chenille ric rac and buttons.

Down by the Bay

Hubby and I went for a walk in the Bayfront Park.  It was a nice, cool spot to be on a hot day.

Looking out on Lake Michigan.

Two more wall hangings

This is a design from a Cross Country Stitching magazine using Gentle Art Sampler threads.

This one was made with  a Not Forgotten Farm design on top and a Primitive Bettys free design on the bottom.

New Ornament

Last year after Christmas, instead of packing away the tree, I decided to put it in my sewing room and fill it with non-Christmas stitchy ornaments.

Today I finished this ornament to put on the tree.

I recently finished Anna Thies into a wall hanging for the living room.  This has always been one of my favorite samplers.

New Blog

Hi! This is my first blog and my first post. I'm very new at this, so please excuse the amateur look of it. I plan to post pictures of my stitching, kitties and the views surrounding our home which I love so much. Thank for looking. Karen
